Just as a seed requires soil, water, and sunlight to thrive, a research idea needs guidance, structure, and collaboration to flourish.
With eager minds and committed hearts, the Hijas-Hearter educators and staff gathered for a Research Writeshop titled “Cultivating Excellence through Action Research, Rooted in Purpose and Spirit” held at Fr. Herranz Hall on September 15, 2025. The event was meaningfully facilitated by Dr. Rito V. Baring, PhD, a well-published researcher from De La Salle University - Manila. The event was generously sponsored by the Parents’ Association under the leadership of Mrs. Beverly Presas.
Dr. Baring led a comprehensive and engaging session that walked participants through the essential stages of action research. He began by identifying the ‘noises’ that often lead to problem identification, then highlighted the foundations of writing a literature review to situate one’s study within existing research. The session further delved into structuring and outlining the paper, navigating the steps of the action research cycle, and presenting a clear discussion and analysis of findings. Beyond the lecture, he also welcomed consultations from different subject areas, giving teachers and staff the opportunity to clarify concerns and connect the concepts to their respective disciplines. This systematic yet practical approach not only clarified the research process but also equipped participants with concrete strategies to strengthen their own action research initiatives.
The writeshop concluded with an inspiring message from the School Principal, Mrs. Rosalie A. Idulsa, who emphasized the crucial role of research in advancing educational practice. She urged the participants to nurture a culture of inquiry and challenged them to embrace research as a transformative tool for their professional growth and for fostering innovation in the classroom.
Indeed, the Research Writeshop served as fertile ground where ideas were planted, nourished, and given room to grow. With renewed knowledge, strengthened skills, and a deeper appreciation of the value of research, the Hijas-Hearter educators and staff are now better equipped to cultivate innovative practices in their classrooms. As these seeds of inquiry continue to take root, they hold the promise of bearing fruit—not only in their professional growth but also in the holistic development and academic success of their pupils and students.
